Scope 1
Using the GHG protocol, an emissions pro昀椀le assessment for
Scope 1 and 2 emissions was completed for the calendar year
2021 period and has been adopted by 29Metals as a baseline
for repor琀椀ng and emissions reduc琀椀on purposes. 2023 emissions
are shown in the charts above alongside emissions for the prior
corresponding period and the 2021 (baseline) year.
Industry collaboration and special projects
In addi琀椀on to the calcula琀椀on of emissions across our opera琀椀ons and
o昀케ces, there have been a number of ini琀椀a琀椀ves during the Repor琀椀ng
Period to assess opportuni琀椀es to reduce the Group’s emissions pro昀椀le.
This is in recogni琀椀on that meaningful ac琀椀on on Climate Change
will require innova琀椀on and investment that, in turn, will require
collabora琀椀on with other mining industry par琀椀cipants and beyond.

Scope 2
Golden Grove reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions while maintaining
similar produc琀椀on levels, resul琀椀ng in reduced emission intensi琀椀es
for material mined and ore processed. Despite the reduc琀椀on in
Scope 2 emissions, this is not re昀氀ected in the electrical energy
intensity, showing that the decrease in greenhouse gas emissions
is a琀琀ributed to the reduc琀椀on in emissions associated with
genera琀椀ng electricity provided in the grid.

engaging a third party to assess Scope 1 and 2 emissions and
assist 29Metals to develop a prac琀椀cal emissions reduc琀椀on
road map, considering the dominance of Scope 2 and limited
market-ready mobile plant electri昀椀ca琀椀on op琀椀ons. This project
is ongoing into 2024;
support of the CopperString 2032 project which, once
constructed, will link northwest Queensland to the east
coast electricity market and, importantly, provide access to
renewable energy projects proposed to be developed along
the CopperString 2.0 corridor;
considera琀椀on of opportuni琀椀es to replace diesel powered
equipment such as dewatering pumps with ba琀琀ery/electric
at Capricorn Copper; and
inves琀椀ga琀椀ng behind the meter solu琀椀on power op琀椀ons and
opportuni琀椀es, including criteria to look at emissions reduc琀椀on
op琀椀ons, in conjunc琀椀on with evalua琀椀ng power supply op琀椀ons at
Golden Grove before exis琀椀ng power supply arrangements fall
due for renewal.

Water management
Reduce water inventory at Capricorn Copper29
Climate Change
Implement ac琀椀ons in 29Metals’ roadmap to align with TCFD recommenda琀椀ons,
including se琀ng credible external emission reduc琀椀on targets (Scope 1 and Scope 2)
Tailings management
Implement long‑term tailings strategies at both opera琀椀ng sites29, including
implementa琀椀on of recommenda琀椀ons for enhancing tailings management prac琀椀ces
aligned to the ICMM’s Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management
Closure planning
Con琀椀nued focus on progressive rehabilita琀椀on and closure planning
29. Water reduc琀椀on and long term tailings capacity are two of the key enablers iden琀椀昀椀ed by 29Metals for a successful and sustainable restart of opera琀椀ons at
Capricorn Copper. Refer to page 3.
